What Marketing Leaders Need To Know About The Next Generation Of Machine Learning

The world is opening back up. People are starting to go back to in-person events. Bruno Mars, Justin Bieber, and Garth Brooks all sold out their live concerts on 4th of July weekend. The 2020 pandemic showed artists and concertgoers everywhere that there are alternative ways to appreciate theatrics—virtually. Post Malone, Dua Lipa, and Gorillaz are all examples of artists who experimented with live-streamed concerts in 2020. In April 2020, Travis Scott performed in the video game, Fortnite to just under 30 million people. Artists started to realize a new connection between themselves and their fans. They realized that true presence is between artists and fans.

Hybrid Events Bridge The Physical And The Virtual

These artists started experimenting with hybrid events as a way to bridge the gap between physical events and online participants. However, live streaming performances don't provide the feeling of presence for both the artist and concert goer as you would experience in the real world. True hybrid events are when audiences feel connected to the artist and beyond just watching a video. The second part of true hybrid events is the feeling of individual interaction between the fan and the performing artist. AltspaceVR and Microsoft Mixed Reality technologies are about to bring that connection to life in a whole new way.

This week, Mix Master Mike, a Grammy award-winner, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, and DJ since the early nineties, will perform in a first-of-its-kind hybrid, live event, that will provide a new way for he and his fans to engage. On Friday, July 23 at 7 p.m. PST he will perform physically on stage at a venue in downtown Los Angeles while simultaneously being live streamed as a hologram onto a virtual stage in AltspaceVR, giving us a glimpse of what’s to come for Microsoft in the future.

For the last year Mix Master Mike has been working in his lab, during which he created too many tracks to fill the next album. Instead of picking and choosing which songs to add to the album, he is turning to his fans. Mike will let the audience help select the songs that go on the album.

“As a passionate creator, this is our Neil Armstrong moment. One giant leap to introduce mankind to a new frontier in the way we experience performance art. A project that will inspire future creatives in the next decades ahead. Most importantly, it’s a way to truly connect with fans in the virtual world, not just deliver a live stream but be present in the room, feel their energy, and show them, love” explained Mike Schwartz, aka Mix Master Mike.

He will release a single across all music platforms and will play it for the first time ever in AltspaceVR. The new single called MEGATON 10, features an all-star list of artists including DJ Premier, Jazzy Jeff, A-TRAK, D-styles, Shortkut, and Melo-D.

Building Connections Between Artists And Fans

The event will be brought to life by and produced by Young Guru, who co-founded Collimation, an interactive entertainment company focused on AR, VR, and 2D experiences and content.

“Collimation is not just a VR or AR or even music company. We create experiences that connect artists to their fans. So this type of hybrid experience just makes sense” said Young Guru.

How Will We Live In The Future

These types of live performances will feature Mike’s never-before-heard heard music, an artist Q&A and a sneak peek at Mike’s new NFT collaboration with Dan Lish.

Enabling Connections In The Metaverse

The future of live events depends more than on simply live-streaming artists. It’s essential for performers to build a personal connection with their fans through technology. Artists who involve their fans in the creation process of their music will build connections that will last beyond a live performance. The future of performances is online, virtual, and truly hybrid and every artist will eventually want to holoport into venues and connect with fans in person and virtually. The future of live events is starting in the metaverse.
